01/08/2025

Lynn Watts Plumpkin (SSAIB), has been honoured as a finalist in the Industry category of Professional Security Magazine's Women in Security Awards 2025! The Women in Security Awards 2025 celebrate remarkable women in the security industry across five main categories and is judged by a panel drawn from ten leading industry bodies. The Industry category, where Lynn is a finalist recognises individuals who contribute beyond their formal roles - through leadership, mentorship, innovation, and raising standards across the profession.

“This recognition is not just personal — it reflects the collective effort we all make to advance our profession.” – Lynn Watts-Plumpkin.

Lynn's nomination reflects decades of dedication and leadership in the security industry:

- First joined SSAIB in 2002, contributing to the organisation earning UKAS accreditation for key standards like BS 7499 (static guarding) and BS 7984 (keyholding and response services).

- Became one of the first female ACS assessors, after her audit experience across multiple sectors such as retail, banking, and more.

- After a brief departure to work on international contracts, Lynn returned to SSAIB in June 2020, resuming her role and helping to lead the team through pandemic-era remote and hybrid audits.

- Served in senior roles at SSAIB, most recently as Management Systems Scheme Manager, shaping security standards across management systems certification.

- Actively involved with professional bodies - she served as Chair of the British Standards Committee for Private Security Management and Services and is a Fellow of the International Institute of Risk & Safety Managers.

Her long career also includes being among the first female operation managers in UK contract security (mid-1980s) and participating in the very first SIA assessor training courses.

Even past the typical career span, Lynn continued advancing quality assurance processes and systems certification frameworks, while supporting firms' professional development.

Lynn’s nomination is not just a testament to her impressive resume. It’s a recognition of her sustained commitment to raising standards and nurturing stronger governance frameworks across the UK security sector. As a finalist in the industry category, she stands tall among the women shaping the future of security, not just at SSAIB but across the profession.

The ceremony will offer a black‑tie gala evening, complete with a champagne reception, three‑course dinner, and live entertainment at the iconic Underglobe venue on 11 September 2025. https://professionalsecurity.co.uk/wis-awards/
