SSAIB Bids Farewell to Long-Serving Team Member Joan Denley

26/11/2025

At the end of this month, SSAIB will be saying a fond farewell to Joan Denley, who is retiring at the remarkable age of 84. As our oldest and one of our longest-serving members of staff, Joan has been a valued part of the SSAIB team for an outstanding 30 years.

Joan first joined the organisation as the office cleaner, quickly becoming a familiar and friendly face to everyone here. Her reliability and positive attitude made her a natural fit within the team, and she later moved into the role of part-time filing clerk, where she remained for many years. In that position, Joan became known for her steady approach, her helpful nature, and her excellent knowledge of our filing systems, skills that many of us came to depend on.

Throughout her three decades with SSAIB, Joan has contributed far more than her job title ever captured. She brought warmth, kindness, and good humour into the office, creating a welcoming environment for colleagues new and old. Her calm presence and genuine friendliness made her highly regarded by everyone she worked with.

The picture accompanying this article features Joan with SSAIB Chief Executive, Paul Phillips, who had the pleasure of presenting her with her leaving gifts as a token of our appreciation.

Paul commented:
"Joan has been an important part of SSAIB for many years, and her dedication and positive spirit have left a lasting impression on us all. We are incredibly grateful for her service, and she will be greatly missed by everyone here."

As Joan begins her well-earned retirement, we hope she enjoys the freedom and relaxation she thoroughly deserves. While she will certainly be missed, her commitment and spirit will remain part of SSAIB’s story for years to come.

On behalf of everyone at SSAIB, we thank Joan for her 30 years of dedicated service and wish her a very happy and fulfilling retirement.
