SSAIB were at the forefront of developing a Certification Scheme for the BS102000 ‘Code of Practice for the provision of Investigative Services’ and was the first Certification Body to achieve UKAS (the United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accreditation for this sector-specific award, known otherwise as ‘Product Certification’.

BS102000 gives recommendations for the conduct, management, staffing and operational accountability for the provision of investigative services. It seeks to help providers demonstrate their accountability at a time when the Government is implementing the licensing of such services. We worked closely with the ABI in developing our Certification Scheme, to ensure that we fully understood the various areas of work ordinarily covered by a professional investigator for the commercial, domestic and professional markets and to confirm that the competencies of our Assessors were readily proven. Our Assessors are not simply Auditors; each of them have proven experience in the private security industry and in relation to those that we deploy in assessments against BS102000 they bring specific knowledge, skills and experience from the police, intelligence and financial services.

Our role does not simply begin and end with an assessment. In preparation for any assessment we shall liaise closely with the applicant organisation to fully understand their needs and expectations. We shall provide a quote for our services that is clear and detailed. We shall always ensure that the applicant is prepared for the assessment and can provide an understanding of GAP Analysis in order to give confidence that all aspects of the recommendations contained in BS102000 have been considered. Following a successful assessment we maintain contact with those organisations, who become SSAIB ‘registered firms’ and as such receive regular Bulletin’s issues by SSAIB.
